Who knew there was gonna be a part 3? Not me.

This isn’t part 3 to my riveting last 10 years since leaving the UK. Nah, this is part 3 to the entire Trent debacle.

Listen, I'm not naive enough to believe this article will have the reach to influence those that need to hear it, or even if it did reach them, that anyone would listen to me anyway. I’m writing this to put out my intention into the world, in hope that the universe will do its thing. Woo woo? Yeah, okay, maybe but you sit 4 nights with Ayahuasca, and a morning of Yopo, and then we can talk about how silly that might sound. I’m guessing your views on the world will shift a bit. Atheist 40 years man and boy before that fateful night in a Yurt in the middle of nowhere, Mallorca.

Anyway I’m not here to talk about how we can affect our reality with our thoughts, words, and vibration (sorry David Icke circa Wogan). That can wait for another article… or not.

I’m here like every man and his dog in the media this week to talk about the boos. I didn’t expect that I was gonna write this article until this morning, but I’m a little concerned with what happened last Sunday on the terraces might filter through to the last couple of games, and eventually the parade. The boos are understandable. You have a local lad who apparently has turned his back on the club he professed to love, and claimed he wanted to play for all his career, and essentially implied that there are bigger clubs in the world than Liverpool. Who’s bigger than Liverpool?… more money or…nah Imnoracceptintha™ - Carra.

Did he deserve the boos on Sunday?

Does the indisputably excellent service that Trent has given the club over the best part of the last decade mitigate the way he’s acted in this whole saga? Personally, I don’t think so, and while I doubt given the opportunity I’d have booed myself, I can’t condemn those that did. And of those that did, and more so those that booed every touch the lad made, ask yourselves, not how it affected the players. Not even how it affected the result, but how did you feel at that moment?

Did it enhance your experience of winning the league or did it diminish it, if even just a smidge.

There are people like me who have waited 35 years to properly celebrate another league title. There are people just a little younger than me who can’t remember ever having seen one, and the generations below, who it will be their first league title they can actually celebrate.

The boos on Sunday, deserved or not, are in the past. This isn’t about, or shouldn’t be about Trent any longer. He’s gone, he’s broken a few hearts in the way he’s done it, and it’s only cos we care that we feel as strongly as we do, but this isn’t about him any longer. Ideally, we won’t see him for the rest of the season, which hurts even to say, and it might be best if he stays away from the parade, but neither of those things are going to happen, and so it’s up to us as individuals to make sure we don’t screw up this most momentous of days for ourselves.

There’s only one thing we should be concentrating on for the rest of the season, and for the parade of the trophy every one of those lads has helped secure. Even Trent who has 3 goals and 6 assists which has contributed to us equalling the Mancs title wins and reclaiming our rightful place at the top of English Football. Despite *ahem* not being English.

The eyes of the world will be watching, and all opposition fans will be hoping the shine is taken off our accomplishments this season. They claimed by ONLY winning the Premier League this season that it’s somehow disappointing. Ask ANY Liverpudlian, and see if they’re in any way, shape or form disappointed. Then some people in the media laughably try to suggest the league isn’t as strong as it once was, when we have the currently 16th and 17th placed teams battling it out in Europe’s second tier season finale, with Forest, Villa and the Barcodes still with realistic chances of making the Champions League places, and Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford battling it out for the Europa league spots, with only Fulham spoiling the alliterative satisfaction of those in contention.

I’d argue that this is one of the most competitive league seasons on record, and even if it wasn’t who the fuck cares? Not us!

We guffaw at rival fans and certain media haters attempts to bring us down after pissing the league in April, but we’re in danger of shooting ourselves in the foot by allowing this soap opera to cloud the fact we’ll be lifting the league for the 20th time on the 25th May, a date that is etched in our hearts for very different reasons.

If anything happens to spoil the party in the next week or so, you can blame Trent as much as you want, but it’ll be our fault for letting it get to us. We’ll be pissing on our own celebrations.

Trent? He’s fucking off to Madrid. He might feel the ire and anger on the day or next few games, but it’s not going to affect his decision, and 24 hours after leaving John Lennon Airport in his private jet (presumably) it’ll be nothing more than an ever fading memory to the lad. Whether he’ll care or not, only he will know, but our memories of lifting number 20 will forever be blighted by that cloud we allowed to ruin our day.

So let’s not. Let’s party! If anyone starts singing his song, and you don’t like it, then don’t join in. It’s up to us to make this celebration the best it can be.

Otherwise, if we fail to keep our powder dry there’ll only be a few winners this season: Trent, Real Madrid, Mancs, Bluenoses and other bitter opposition fans that indulge in schadenfreude.
